Hello everyone/ as again!
Last week there was Euroleague, but that does not mean we rested midweek, no? Here we rest and we had no match for CBA. On Wednesday we played in Fuenlabrada. A team that started very, very good league and because of injuries has lost a bit of gasoline. In this game, there was much doubt the star of Fuenla, Fitch, was not known if he played or not .. At first they said yes, then no, then certainly not, well then yes, and finally no ... jajaja. A pity, because I always like playing against the best. It was a very difficult game. In this pitch is very difficult to win, with all the atmosphere there, despite being a Wednesday. We were finally able to get a tight victory. Last Sunday we played against Lagun Aro. This was a difficult game, because Lagun Aro's playing very, very well and we at home can not fail. We left very concentrated and the truth is that we left things and we could win with a commanding lead. After the game, so typical that when you hurry, you spend a lot of things ... and I had to catch a plane to Madrid at 19 because Monday had a photo shoot with Nike (this time without Clara Lago L ...). He finished the game and the doctor comes to me touched my drug test! So that at half time I did not want to go to the bathroom because otherwise I spend 4 hours there and miss the plane. Because when you give the bottle to fill it and not feel like, with all the pressure and everything, it costs more. He also touched my good friend Chloe, so we chatted a while before she felt the urge. He told me a very good story, and last year it fell to him in a match doping control, and after the talk by Xavi Pascual, was not agreed and went to the bathroom. After 4 hours before he was able to fill the jar. Menudo crack!! This week was one of the toughest week, if not the most difficult for us to leave. Siena played Thursday and Saturday in Malaga. We knew if we wanted to be on top of the two competitions, we could not miss these two games. On Wednesday we took the plane to Siena. In the environment and breathed it was a special week and had maximum concentration. I called my grandmother to prepare the pills because I was going to suffer weeks of seeing him play nice. On Thursday came the game that if we would have ganábamoss well to be top of the group. Siena is a team that went undefeated in Euroleague and Italian league as well. In the end, we could with the invincibility of Siena and won 19. All very happy but we knew we had to concentrate and in Malaga because within 48 hours we had another very important game. And as I said above, when you rush out all upside down ... After the game in Siena, we stayed to sleep and by morning we caught a plane at 10 am to go direct to Malaga. We travel by charter, private aircraft, which did not fit all the bags because we carry the baggage of Siena, plus from Malaga, so some luggage had to go on another plane and arrive later. (Of course, one that was left was mine, and I am jinxed). Apart from this the luggage, the plane was delayed 3 hours and could not train in the afternoon there. Overall, a slightly longer trip than it should have been some without luggage. So that by the evening went for a walk in Malaga and it's great that city. Andalusia People I love, are very open and carefree ... Came the last day of a tough week and we knew we had to leave us excuses and go for the game. It was a very evenly balanced but in the end we managed to get the win. Return journey and all very happy. This has been a perfect month, with 9 wins from 9 games. I hope to return to write more stories and victories.
A hug
Ricky

"GOLD" Mission accomplished
It’s Over!
But not the blog eh???, But the European Championships!
What a shame, just when we were enjoying it like children inside the court!!
Now it is time to make balance of a championship that was harder than what everyone expected, with many roadblocks, but getting the goal, that all were ambitious as they come, we put upon us. It is the first time that Spain gets the gold medal in Eurobasket. That's the magnitude of how important it is.
At first, many people lost confidence in us and saw us out of the fight for the medals, but we never lost faith. We had to play the games out of life or death, it was how we responded better. It all started with Poland, following France, then Greece and then finally Serbia, what a pity that it had to end...
At the end of the game of Serbia, we merge all hugging and even some with tears and all. We knew we had all suffered a lot to get to this point. All with a smile from ear to ear and very excited. The time came of the podium, all very well prepared, first with the right leg, holding hands and then we scream! When Juanki (J.C Navarro), had to lift the cup, it cost him a lot cause it weighed a lot, truthfully we were all incredibly happy.
After sleeping 3 hours in the plane, we arrived in Madrid at 9 am. We went to the hotel to rest two hours and afterwards were greeted by President of the Spanish Government, Mr Zapatero. Felipe had been saying all day long that he was going to tell him if he could lower the taxes. When it came time to tell him, he was too embarrassed and did not say it, but in the end all of us insisted that he say it, and eventually he said it, "How great you are Felipon" but I think without success...
Then we went to eat something. Then we had a nap for an hour to then go to see S.M. The King, Queen and the princes. We talked for a while and then we went to Cibeles to celebrate with all the fans who had gathered there. The ride to Cibeles almost cost us more than a scare, is that we were traveling in a convertible bus, and we were standing, and passing through the tunnels we had to duck because if we don’t... it leaves the head, is that some of us are a "little tall" no? and of course, some were clueless and we all would scream: BE CAREFUL!!!!!, cause if you don’t, one is left without a head.
We arrived at the Cibeles, multitude of people and me, the truth, a little scared shitless (pardon the expression), is that I had never seen so many people before, and on top of that had to talk. The others were use to it, of course, because they had came from winning the World Championships and had done something similar... At the end of it all, us the Catalans went on a bus to the airport to catch the plane, but not before saying goodbye to all my colleagues, GREAT COMPANIONS, although many we'll meet again in basketball courts, where fate.
It was an incredible experience that I will never forget.
I hope you all enjoyed the European and the little anecdotes that I was able to tell for during the championship. Although the anecdotes will not end, and as I promised, I will write once a week to go explaining things.
A hug

Today can be a great day, think like that
Hello everybody!
We're in the semis. It has been a very tough road, but although we have not done anything yet, we are now closer to the goal we have set and most importantly, the lessons learned. In other words, do not be anxious to win but to go out and enjoy and have fun. I think it is very difficult to find a team that is as united as this, both within and outside the court.
In the match against France, we knew what we played, and despite the pressure and importance of the game, we enjoyed it as kids from the very first minute, and like that, is how we play the best and the best way people have a good time. France came from not to loosing any games, but the competition has these things (remember of some in the 2004 Olympics). As the best player in Spanish history in basketball has said, and I dare say in sports although it is a subjective opinion, early in the tournament: "The important thing is how it ends, not how it begins.” You know who said it, no? Of course, I'm talking of Pau, the unstoppable Gasol. It was yesterday against France, he showed what is to carry a team on his back and get 28 points and 9 rebounds, but I would say that apart from the numbers, it was his presence, it was like playing with a wildcard, that when things went wrong for us, balls to Pau and see who can stop him (Turiaf and Traore finished with 5 fouls ....). We can not forget either of Rudy [Fernandez], who several days ago, his coach of Portland said that Batum is winning a starting spot. I think if you see yesterday's game will have no doubt who is the 2nd starter of that team. Big Rudy.
Today we were able to rest and we have taken advantage to detach a bit and after lunch we went to Auschwitz. We went to see the concentration camps and its worth going to see them. The thing is you have to go there with a little bit of humor, because otherwise, you come out of there all shattered. When we arrived, there were no guides but this was not an impediment to visit because our physical trainer, the great Nacho Coque, has giving us an explanation and we were left all gawking at how well he has done and what he knew about the whole history. I think if someone comes to hear him, they’ll hire him a guide for sure.
When I was playing in the European cadet in León, Jesús (the delegate for excellence), the day of the game they would sing us a song during breakfast that goes like pearls for these two days remaining. The song, I guess you have all heard of it at one point, goes:
"Today can be a great day, think like that"
So tomorrow and, whatever happens, we have a chance of winning medals, so I want to see everyone with Spain.
A hug

Now France is next
Hello everyone!
When I said that you could not lose confidence, I did not say it just because. This is a tool of the team that in tough times we bond even more and we proved once again that we can be the team we all thought.
Today we made a great game. Poland, host, was playing very well, but we knew it was a life or death match and we could not fail. We all came out very focused and from the start we picked up a comfortable lead (today there was no need for your pills eh grandma!!..). From the beginning we have defended well and we have been successful, especially Juanki [Juan Carlos Navarro] 7/9 in triples, PLAYER.
After the game, we showered quickly and we went by bus, we expected a three-hour trip... But the trip was short, thanks to movies, the pizzas and the end of the book "The Girl Who Played with Fire," what a great moment when I discovered the identity of Zala, I won’t tell you more but I recommend it. Now I will start the third, which Jorge [Garbajosa] told me is very good, although he says the best of the three is the second one.
In the end we got France next. A team that has not lost a game and is playing very well. But I trust once again in this team, and we will go with everything from the start. It will be difficult because only hearing names like Tony Parker, Diaw, Batum... grandma, prepare the pills because it will be a tough match.
A hug to all and with everything!!! Let’s go!!!!

Victory against Lithuania (9/14/09)
Hello!
Today I write with a big smile because we have recovered a good feeling. This team is great and you can never lose confidence in it.
We started the game a little nervous, but knowing that we had to win yes or yes. From a great defense and counter attacks we got a sizable income on the scoreboard, and most importantly, we were having a good time. All of us scored, shared the game and defended. Like that, we won to a powerful Lithuania, despite their absences, and were left eliminated.
With the victory of Slovenia against Poland, we face the 4 games to life or death, if we lose we go home and if we win we keep going (my grandmother told me that I must make a piggy bank to pay for the medication for her heart). It's like playing 1/8 of the final against Poland. They are playing very well and in addition they’re playing at home, but if we are ourselves, who defend till death and have fun, it will be very difficult to stop us.
Yesterday, we counted on a special audience in the stands, namely that some parents have come here to Poland to cheer for us. Will they be the talisman that we play well? I hope this continues and we can celebrate something big.
By the way, did you see the block that Felipe hit on Javtokas? When he did the block, he did a yell that all of us on the bench had us laughing, and then in the locker room we couldn’t stop talking about that block (well, and that dunk in the face of Jorge too, ahem...)
A hug for everyone and I hope you have not lost confidence in this team, because the objective is still in our hands. LET’S GO!

On the verge of a nervous breakdown!!! (9/10/09)
Again Hello everyone!
How we like to suffer huh? Against Slovenia, we had enough that we needed 5 minutes more to make you suffer. I must say that in overtime, I don’t know if you guys felt the same, but watching Felipe getting all the rebounds, it was as if no one could stop him, Felipón has a strength and a pair of ... ahem, that no one else in the world have them, how great you are FELIPÓN.
When I called my grandmother after the game, she told me that if we make her suffer like this, that she won’t be able to bear watch the entire tournament, ha ha ha. What counts is that we won and we're recuperating ambiance. We are, little by little, gradually raising the level and every time we’re feeling more comfortable playing.
Today we traveled to Lodz, a town 137 km from Warsaw. Normally it would have taken about 90 minutes or so, but as there are no M-30s here, we had to pass through villages and it took 2 hours and 30 minutes. Thus, we had time to watch a movie from Rudy’s video library (he has many movies, lucky to have him as a roommate). This time, we got to see, "I Am Legend", of my favorite actor Will Smith, a grand actor.
We arrived at the hotel, and the truth is, from the outside it did not look very pretty, but from the inside it’s great, except it has one letdown.
Well, for me no, but for Felipón yes. It’s that, in the dining room there’s two very large paintings. In one there are three children in white nightgown who do not stop looking at you with sad faces, and the other one is a girl alone but with a look that kills. We are eating and when you look up you see them and it frightens you, and also Felipe is watching a series of terror that dealt about that and he won’t raise his head for anything in the world… ha ha ha
A hug to everyone!

TODAY WE GO WITH EVERYTHING!!!!!! 9/9/09
Well, we have premiered the locker of victories, it cost us, but in the end we won.
The sensations were not at all good, but the most important thing yesterday is that we took back the victory and that is what counts. At first it seemed it would be an easy match, since we started intense, but in the fourth quarter, after winning the whole others, they got ahead of us, but thanks to the aggressive defense and that Pau was stellar on offense, we were able to regain control of the game and ended up winning the match by 8.
This time there was no anti-doping control, and I was able to dine with the whole team and then after, did a bit of treatment. Our, Paco and Quico deserve a special mention apart, they are the bomb, and yesterday the cameras came to record while we were doing treatment so the people can see what a grand job there is behind them.
Then we had some laughs and went to sleep.
Tomorrow I hope, when I write, I can inform you all with another victory and a much more calmer selves, because we are not being ourselves, today we are putting all the meat on the grill, as a saying goes, and we will end up doing that.
A hug to everyone.

Against Serbia it was not our day, next time we will give it our all 9/8/09
Hello everyone. Today I write after the first game of the European Championships. I will try to write after each match, but yesterday I was not strong enough nor inclined to write. It was a hard night, all of us were quiet and sad knowing of what had happened at the game should not happen again.
We lost to Serbia. It must be said that Serbia, although it bears a very young team it has an incredible talent. Yesterday was not our day, nothing went in for us and we rushed into each action. This game shows that we are not so favorites as people think, but despite the defeat, we can still achieve our goal.
If it gets worse, when the game ended, a Polish volunteer came up to me to sign a paper, up until then it was all good cause I thought It was a fan who wanted an autograph, and although I was in a bad mood (I hate to lose), I took the paper to sign it and saw that it was an "ANTI-DOPING CONTROL"… he was not a fan, It was my turn to do the anti-doping control. I know it’s nothing, it’s just pee in a cup, but I HAVE ALREADY GONE TO THE BATHROOM DURING HALF TIME, and I had nothing left in store, in conclusion I had to drink water for 30 min, I tried and nothing only 25 ml, and the minimum is 75ml… Lucky I had Víctor Claver, he too was his turn, and who also couldn’t go and he made me company. After 30 min more and with a 1,5 L bottle and a Sprite of 500 mL in my belly I was able to make it to the 75 mL mark, in fact I think it was 74 ml, but if they ask me to make 1 mL more I’ll spend an hour more there. In consequence of everything that I had drunken, that after arriving at the hotel I went to the bathroom 4 times and they were not short rivers I made uh…
Personally, I’m looking forward to tonight to show everyone, and myself, that we can be ourselves again.
I hope tomorrow, when I write, I can against all with much more happiness and with a victory.
A hug!

blog #2: The Mosquito and Lithuania 9/6/09
Hello everyone!
Just over a week since I wrote the last blog, so I am man of his word eh??… hahaha. Is that this week I’ve been a bit messed as you may have seen and heard. It was a hard and difficult decision but finally my future is clarified and I can play the European championships much more peaceful.
Reviewing the week, Sunday we played in Murcia against Israel, and another victory. After the game, we showered quickly because each one of us will go home to rest a day. The Catalans we caught a plane called the MOSQUITO, for those who do not know, is a very small plane and very wide of 17 seats or less. We were 8 so we had space to spare. The plane was really moving, there was lots of turbulence and our comrade Guille, from here I wanted to send him a big hug, he had it dreadful, because he doesn’t like planes much and there was a moment that the plane would not stop shaking and he began to sweat and wouldn’t stop moving and covering himself with a shirt and all he could do. Every time he calmed down the turbulence would come back and he spend the rest of the ride moving and covering, hahaha.
We arrived, and on Tuesday, all the uncertainty about my future is over and I was introduced as a new player of Barça. The next morning I took a flight early in the morning to train with the team because in the afternoon we were going to Vilnius.
Yesterday we suffered our first defeat, and the truth is, we played very badly. This defeat was by 22 points!!! It hurt us much, but it allows you to get grounded and not believe we have everything done for us and that we will win easily always. I think it was good for us to give us a touch of warning just before the European Championships.
Tomorrow we’ll go to Poland where we will give our everything to get what we want.
I say farewell from Lithuania and next time, I’ll be in Poland writing what is happening in the national selection.
A hug to everyone.
